What makes Origin Organics so original?
Years of research in fertilizer, soil and organic growing methods.
Compost generated from a unique approach used only at Origin Organic Farms. Leaves, stems, and fruit prunings are gathered throughout the farm then introduced into the accelerated composting system.
Proprietary, high-quality soil – with compost as its primary ingredient–enhances sustainability.
Sophisticated drainage and irrigation practices ensure no water, pesticide or chemical contamination from neighbouring farms.
Organic raw material is made into fertilizer, and drip irrigation ensures it does not come into contact with the tomatoes and cucumbers as they grow.
All drainage is recycled for reuse.
Farms complete the full sustainable cycle, and can produce four times the volume of traditional organic field crops.
Proven nutrition advantage—Origin Organic tomatoes have been found by the University of Guelph to contain four times more lycopene than conventionally-grown tomatoes.
New in 2009
More emphasis on the composition of soil. Now soil can be reused to grow the same crop year after year.
Development of a very accurate ‘fertigation’ model to determine the available organic nutrients for the plants. (More efficient fertilizer usage.)
Introduction of more biological pest control methods to protect the crop from unwanted pests.
Compliance to the New Canadian Organic Regime which represents a higher standard.
